Do you want to feel confident you are giving your volunteers the best support possible?

The ILM Level 3 Award in Management of Volunteers is aimed at volunteer managers and co-ordinators who have a hands on role in supporting volunteers. This may be as all or part of your job.

This training programme will help you to increase your skill and confidence in managing volunteers day-to-day. You will learn new approaches and techniques. And you will gain a recognised qualification to help you progress in your career.  This Award is worth 6 ILM Unit credits. You can also take an extended version of this course worth 11 unit credits.

Programme format and start date

You can start the programme at a time to suit you. It is a fully supported distance learning course.

You will benefit from a variety of learning methods:

  • Pre-recorded webinars
  • Independent guided learning, supported by in-depth information hand-outs and workbooks
  • Resource lists with web links
  • Individual coaching and tutorials via Zoom (or phone), to support you with your learning and the assessed work

The individual coaching and tutorial support is tailored to your own needs and circumstances. Your tutors have extensive experience in providing volunteer management training and development.

“The materials and videos were very good and easy to engage with.  The feedback and mentoring was especially helpful and you were never made to feel bad for asking for help or if you misunderstood something.  You also always knew that the tutors absolutely wanted you to succeed and their feedback was really helpful towards building on your work. The programme has definitely made me think about different ways of motivating volunteers and has been a contributing factor in discussions about how we can better reward our volunteers and thank them for their hard work.”
